Proudly Family-Run. Passionately Scottish.

Speyside Specialities is a fourth-generation Scottish food business rooted in tradition and based in Buckie on the Moray Coast.

Our story began in 1898, when Robert Lawson armed himself with traditional recipes from a sympathetic friend and set out to provide for his wife and three children. Crafting puddings from an outhouse in Dunfermline, Fife, he sold them on foot by hand barrow to coastal communities. His hard graft and entrepreneurial spirit quickly paid off — the business grew, evolved, and became a respected household name, especially in the years following the Second World War.

Over 125 years later, we’re still making our traditional puddings, haggis, and comfort food favourites the proper way using time-honoured family recipes, locally sourced Scottish ingredients, and a whole lot of care.

In 1997, Francis Lawson and his youngest son David established Speyside Specialities Ltd and acquired a controlling interest in Stewart of Buckie. Today, David Lawson – the fourth generation – proudly leads the company, continuing a legacy built on quality, flavour, and integrity.

We’ve modernised, expanded, and earned a BRC AA accreditation, but we’ve never lost sight of our roots. Whether you’ve picked up our Black Pudding in Tesco, found our Skirlie in a local butcher, or enjoyed our White Pudding through a foodservice supplier, we’re honoured to be part of tables across Scotland, and beyond.
